Coping Mechanisms
A new series of work.
A collection of crudely designed, wearable, sculpture-apparatus made to aid the wearer (the bearer?) in coping. Apparatus will be inspired by colloquial phrases, i.e.:
“Keep a stiff upper lip”
“Pull yourself up by your bootstraps”
“Keep your chin up”
“Turn a blind eye”
The exhibit would be a combination of artifacts (sculptures) and photo-based documentation (artifacts in practical use).
Think straps, buckles, pulleys, hardware (various and sundry), binding, pushing, constricting, pulling, and several assorted and combined forms of containment and alteration.
Drawings and works in progress coming soon to a portfolio page near you.
I love them already!
Brilliant! I could use a few of these…
