Home Sweet Wireless Home

The Eastern holiday was lovely but, oh, it’s grand to be back home in Vancouver where posting is not painful!

Speaking of “home”, here are a couple of displaced ones I brought back with me.

The smaller nest is from my brother’s trailer site in Port Glasgow, the larger is from a front lawn a few doors down from my mom’s place in London. Both were found upended on the grass, most likely having been blown out of trees during the storm that passed through on August 23rd.

They are the most delicate little things (the largest is five inches across at its widest point). Their almost perfectly round construction is amazing, particularly the center where fine strands of hair have been woven, tucked, and matted…almost felted, really.

It is is a wonder to me that these tiny jewels hold clutches of fidgeting fledlings.
