Finding feathers suitable for quill making proved to be more of a challenge than I anticipated.
Andrew and I walked along the Seawall to the island habitat where I was sure I would find some nice Canadian goose feathers. No such luck. The area was super spiffy. Nary a piece of garbage in sight. I had thrown in the towel when suddenly Andrew spotted a decent feather in a garden on the edge of an industrial area. We walked back home via the industrial route – the rooftops are favourite roosting grounds for seagulls – and had luck finding medium and large feathers that have quill-appeal…
Searching for them turned into a fun, obsessive game. I can see compulsive scanning of the ground around me becoming a habit. 😉
