Artventures In Regina: Day 5

Wednesday morning, show is up, reception is over, gallery is open for business as usual. I have the entire day to putter about on my own in Regina while Barb is getting some work done at the university.

I have been supplied with a city map, a bus schedule, and directions on how to get to the MCC Thrift Store. Before going our separate ways, it is absolutely necessary to go to the Farmer’s market on Scarth Street to buy some rhubarb tarts.

My agenda for the day includes a visit to the grocery store, preparing dinner, visiting a number of local galleries, checking out the thrift store, and surveying the local landscape c/o the Regina Transit system. Despite the overcast day and cooler temperature, I manage to get sunburned. I re-connect with Barb at 6:00pm at the university to attend the opening of a local artist. From the opening we head to meet a fellow artist in the prairies. Barb and Shauna are collaborating on a site specific project – a large stretch of prairie field has been earmarked for big-box development and from the looks of things, ‘dozers have already moved in.
