My 30 Minutes of Fame

Dear, sweet fans – here’s an opportunity to hear yours truly chattering away about art like an elf on crack.   Yesterday I was interviewed by CBC Radio’s Sheryl MacKay for this weekend’s North by Northwest program.  Was I excited?   Oh, just a little…

I think it went well.  It was certainly fun.  Sheryl has a way of listening and looking at you like you are the most interesting person in the world. I felt very comfortable and competent.

Of course I experienced the “Doh!  I shoulda mentioned this…I shoulda said that!” about two hours after the fact, but that just means I’ll have new things to talk about in the next interview (she’s interested in seeing what I’m up to in a year and maybe doing a remote from my studio (!!!). Very damn cool.)

The spot airs this Sunday morning, Feb. 1, 8:30am to 9am.  It will also be available to download as a podcast from the CBC website and will be up there “forever”.

Here’s a question for you: if I get 30 minutes of fame, does it mean I have to give 15 back at some point?

Thank you all for listening and visiting my site – even if it was difficult to get through…I did register an almost 500% increase in views the day the show aired!
Your supportive comments are very much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to drop a line.
PS – love the Elvis story!

just heard the show and thank her (and you) for her direction to get on yr website.
am sure y’ll get lots of enthusiasm targeting you from all e-ml directions today. Having just read yr bio I send you a cat-ghost from 50 yrs ago–another Elvis who lived withmy piano teacher Miss Holtby (The Elder–her sister was called Miss Margaret). I think he’d been a stray. But he made himself comfortable in the big bay windowed room with two side by side baby grands (and a harpsicord tucked beside the fireplace.) She thought the name very clever and amusing. I think he was a big grey persian. Sheand he a bit terrifying!

Absolutely fabulous, Jody!! Quite exciting… for about the first 15 minutes of your interview, your website wouldn’t load -I’d say because all the keeners like me were trying to take a look and jammed it up!! Its great to see and hear ‘local’ artists who are making it happen!

Awesome! She definitely exudes the “you have my undivided attention” thing in every interview I have heard her give, and you can practically HEAR her smiling. Must be all those muffins and coffee at 5:30 am. I will check it tomorrow, mos def.
