Screenplay Thursday #11
If the bike represents Paul, and Newton is the one who enables Paul to move forward, then Newton must be a wheel. I began to wonder what would happen if Paul’s metaphorical “wheel” (Newton) also disappeared?

Well, we know what that makes Jody, don’t we?
Today I took a few studio hours and just let myself play with a new piece.
This is what I got:

Q: Your work usually has violent/morbid overtones, with nasty things always about to happen or having just happened, but it’s all self-referential…what have you got against yourself? Or is this some form of reverse voodoo? Or does somebody need a hug? (stereotype of the artist as depressive/self destructive, angst ridden loner…is this why you work in multiples? So you are not alone?)

Mondays seem to be forming into a gastronomical thang.
Here’s something I conjured up a few days ago when I couldn’t find a recipe that I wanted for savory crepes.

I was never one for collecting stuffed animals when I was a wee girl. Oh, sure, I had a few, but not mountains of them like some of my friends did. Now that I am a “mommy”, and have a [hairy] child of my own, I spend quite a bit of time perusing the stuffie bin at our local Salvation Army Thrift Store. Every once in a while I will find something that is just too precious to hand over to Elvis.

Despite a valorous fight, I have finally succumbed to the nasty bug that my loftmate dragged through the front door. For almost a full month I have resisted.

I’ve been meaning to set this loose in the ether for some time now. So that I feel beholding and accountable-like.

Q: What is your earliest memory involving art? I’ll tell you mine if you tell us yours 😀
Hmmm. My earliest memory involving art would have to be performance-based.

ARRRGGHHH. I think I may have killed it. And not in the good way.
In an attempt to make Newton less of a cookie cutter buddy, I’ve completely rewritten his character. Which meant rewrites to Paul’s dialogue. I guess the good news is that it is three pages shorter.
Start on page two of the script, I’ve made changes throughout, although some of it is still familiar.
As a creative-type person, I’d like to think I have trained myself to take the unexpected in stride. Today I saw something that made me go “huh?”

I have been sent two fantastic questions.
I’ll save one of them for next week’s ATA. This week:
Q: Was there a particular moment or event involved in you deciding to become an artist? Not in the “we’re all born artists” kind of way, but where you decided yes, it is your life’s calling?

Here ya go – freshly tweaked throughout – The Wheel – Draft Four.
As an added bonus – dedicated to my peer group for suggesting the alternate second-to-last scene, which surprisingly I think a prefer – The Wheel – Draft Four Alternate Ending.
Suggestions? Comments? Which pre-ending do you like: the scene between Kali and Paul, or the one with Kali and Newton?
Q: If you don’t receive any real questions from the public, are you still going to post Ask the Artist as a regular blog topic. If so, why?
